NS Track Work Disrupt Crescent

Some passengers on Amtrak’s Crescent will be riding a bus between Atlanta and New Orleans due to Norfolk Southern track work.

Nos. 19 and 20 will not operate between Atlanta and New Orleans on Jan. 20, 27 and Feb. 3, 10 and 12.

The Crescent normally originates in New York on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday and from New Orleans on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

On the days when the trains are not operating between Atlanta and New Orleans, it will either terminate or originate in Atlanta.

Alternative bus service will be provided to Anniston, Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Meridian, Laurel, Hattiesburg, Picayuane, Slidell and New Orleans.

On Fridays and Saturdays, Train 19 will operate normally, serving all stations on the route.

Train 20 will operate normally to all stations on Saturdays and Sundays.

Amtrak cautioned that Bus 3020, which is providing alternative service on the days Train 20 is not operating from New Orleans to Atlanta will depart stations earlier than the scheduled train times.

2 Piedmonts to Be Canceled on Feb. 18

Amtrak Piedmont Trains 74 and 77 will be canceled on Feb. 18 due to Norfolk Southern track work.

The trains operate in North Carolina, between Charlotte and Raleigh. In a service advisory Amtrak said no alternate transportation will be provided.

All other Carolinian (New York-Charlotte) and Piedmont service trains will operate normally.

 

 

NS Track Work to Disrupt Operations of Crescent

Track work being performed by Norfolk Southern will result in Amtrak’s Crescent being canceled between New Orleans and Atlanta on certain days between Jan. 19 and Feb. 20.

In a service advisory, Amtrak said Nos. 19 and 20 will not operate between those cities on weekdays during the periods of Jan. 20-23, Jan. 23- 27. Jan. 30 to Feb. 3-6, Feb. 10-13, and Feb. 17-20.

On those dates No. 19 will terminate in Atlanta. Passengers will be provided bus service from Atlanta to the scheduled stops of Anniston, Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Meridian, Laurel, Hattiesburg, Picayune, Slidell and New Orleans.

No. 19 will operate through to New Orleans on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, serving all stations on the route.

No. 20 on the dates shown above will originate in Atlanta. Passengers will ride a bus if boarding at New Orleans to Slidell, Picayune, Hattiesburg, Laurel, Meridian, Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Anniston before transferring to the train in Atlanta.

On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, Train 20 will operate normally, serving all stations on the route.

Track Work to Dispute Carolinian, Piedmonts

Norfolk Southern track work will disrupt operations of some Piedmont and Carolinian trains on Oct. 29.

In a service advisory, Amtrak said Piedmont Service Trains 74, 75, 76 and 77 will be cancelled and alternate transportation will not be provided.

The Carolinian from Charlotte, North Carolina, to New York, will originate at Raleigh, North Carolina.

No alternate transportation is being provided between Charlotte and Raleigh.

All other Carolinian and Piedmont trains will operate normally on Oct. 29.

 

Track Work to Result in Piedmont Cancellations

September 7, 2019

Track work being performed by Norfolk Southern will result in some Piedmont Service being canceled on Sept. 9 and 10.

Affected are Trains 74, 75, 76 and 77 in North Carolina between Raleigh and Charlotte.

No alternative transportation is being provided, but all Piedmont Service trains and the Carolinian will operate normally on these dates.

 

NS Track Work in Indiana to Delay Amtrak Trains

Crescent Disrupted by NS Track Work

Between now and Feb. 14 Amtrak’s Crescent is only operating between Atlanta and New Orleans three days a week.

The service disruption is due to track work being conducted by host railroad Norfolk Southern, which works on this segment of the route annually at this time of year and began on Jan. 7.

The Crescent will operate as normal between New York and Atlanta during the time period, but will terminate in Atlanta on Mondays through Thursdays.

Operations between New Orleans and Atlanta will only be run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Alternative bus service is being provided to all stations south of Atlanta on days the Crescent does not operate.

NC Service Disruptions Set for June 26

More service disruptions are in store for Amtrak in North Carolina due to Norfolk Southern track work.

On June 26, Piedmont Service Nos. 73 and 76 will be canceled without alternative transportation being provided.

Piedmont Nos. 74 and 75 will operate between Raleigh and Greensboro. There will be no service to High Point, Salisbury, Kannapolis and Charlotte.

The Carolinian will operate between New York and Greensboro. No service will be provided to High Point, Salisbury, Kannapolis and Charlotte.

Piedmont Disruptions Set for June 19

Norfolk Southern track work on June 19 will result in the cancellation of some Amtrak Piedmont trains and a shortened route for other trains.

Trains 73 and 76 will be canceled and no alternative service provided. Nos. 74 and 75 will operate only between Raleigh and Greensboro, North Carolina, only.

There will be no service at the other stations served of High Point, Salisbury, Kannapolis and Charlotte.

Track Work to Affect NC Amtrak Trains

April 3, 2017

Track work being performed by Norfolk Southern between Kannapolis and Charlotte, North Carolina will result in the cancellation of some Amtrak service on Monday, April 10.

Piedmont Service Nos. 73 and 75 will operate normally to Kannapolis but passengers will ride a bus to Charlotte.

Passengers for Nos. 74 and 76 will ride a bus from Charlotte to Kannapolis that will depart Charlotte 15 minutes earlier than the normal train schedules to allow the trains to depart Kannapolis on time.

There will be bus service between Charlotte and Kannapolis for passengers riding the Carolinian, No 80. The bus will depart Charlotte 15 minute earlier than the scheduled train departure time.

In a service advisory, Amtrak said that Carolinian No. 79 will operate from Kannapolis to Charlotte, but may be delayed 20 – 30 minutes departing Kannapolis due to waiting for NS crews to clear the track.
