Silver Service Changes Coming July 6

Amtrak will implement on Monday (July 6) changes to the operations of its Silver Star and Silver Meteor trains between New York and Miami.

Currently both trains operate daily but that will no longer be the case as operation is curtailed so that there will be just one daily train between New York and Miami.

The Silver Star will depart on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; and depart Miami on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

The Silver Meteor will depart New York on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; and depart Miami on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

In a service advisory, Amtrak said each train will have five refurbished Amfleet II coaches, three Viewliner sleeping cars, an Amfleet café car and a Viewliner II sleeper lounge for the exclusive use of sleeper class passengers.

Although train service to Tampa will only operate three days a week, an Amtrak Thruway bus connection serving Tampa will connect with the Silver Meteor at Orlando.

The New York-Savannah, Georgia, Palmetto will continue to operate daily as will the Auto Train between Lorton, Virginia, and Sanford, Florida.

Wolverines Get New Schedules

Amtrak has changed the schedules of some Wolverine Service trains in an effort to improve their connections with other Midwest trains. The changes are effective July 16.

Train 352 will operate 45 minutes later to allow new connections from Trains 300 (Lincoln Service) and 334 (Hiawatha Service).

Train 353 will operate 45 minutes earlier to allow new connections to Train 393 (Illini).

Train 355 will also begin operating 15 minutes later.

Keystone Schedules Adjusted for Track Work

Track work being performed in Pennsylvania  between Paoli and Thorndale, will result in minor schedule changes for Keystone Service trains between May 19 and June 10.

Between May 19 to June 10 Train 660 will operate 5 minutes early from Harrisburg to Philadelphia.

Between June 9 and 10 Trains 611, 615, 661, 663, 667, 669 and 671 will operate 10 minutes later Paoli to Middletown and 20 minutes later to Harrisburg.

Cascade Trains Temporary Gets Superliners

May 7, 2018

Amtrak said that due to maintenance and equipment upgrades, some Cascades Service trains will use Superliner equipment between Portland and Eugene, Oregon.

During this time there will be no checked baggage, WiFi, Business Class, or bicycle space. Food service options will be limited.

The changes will affect Train 505 on May 4 and 9 and Train 511 on on May 7, 8 and 10, Train 500 on May 10, and Train 508 on May 7, 8 and 10.

Passengers ticketed for Trains 508 and 511 on May 9 will ride a bus between Portland and Eugene on May 9. There will be no offer checked baggage, WiFi, Business Class, bicycle space or food service.

Ethan Allen Schedule to Change

Amtrak said in a service advisory that starting on April 7, Ethan Allen Express No. 292 will run 5 minutes later between Rutland and Albany. The passenger carrier said the 5 minute adjustment was being made to improve performance and help to decrease delays.
