The Santa Fe’s Chicago terminus was Dearborn Station, which saw its last departures on April 30. Inbound Santa Fe trains continued to arrive at Dearborn Station until May 2. The last arrival was train No. 24.
Nos. 1 and 2 operated between Kansas City and Newton, Kansas, via Emporia, Kansas; and between Newton and Dalies, New Mexico, via Amarillo, Texas.
Nos. 15 and 16 operated between Kansas City and Emporia via Topeka, Kansas.
Nos. 17 and 18 operated between Kansas City and Emporia via Olathe, Kansas; and between Newton and Dailies via Albuquerque.
Nos. 23 and 24 operated via Topeka and Albuquerque. No. 24 was the last pre-Amtrak transcontinental train to complete its journey.
Nos. 73 and 74 were combined with Southern Pacific Nos. 11 and 12 and Burlington Northern Nos. 195 and 198 to form a tri-weekly Seattle-San Diego train.
Nos. 191-190 and 201/200 connected with Nos. 17 and 18 at La Junta.
