Gateway Project Cost has Increased by $300M

The Gateway Development Corporation is estimating that delays to the tunnel project have added $300 million to the project cost.

The project involves building new tunnels under the Hudson River between New York City and New Jersey at a cost of $11.6 billion.

The added costs were mentioned by Frank Sacr, interim executive director of the Gateway group during the first meeting of the new seven-member, bi-state Gateway Development Commission.

A draft environmental report for the project has been pending before the Federal Transit Administration for nearly three years.
