Coast Starlight to Resume Operating Full Route

The Coast Starlight will resume operating over its full route starting with trains departing Los Angeles and Seattle today (March 3).

The Starlight has been operating only between Los Angeles and Sacramento, California, after host railroad Union Pacific closed the train’s route in Oregon due to heavy snow and fallen trees.

The southbound Starlight had become stranded between Sunday, Feb. 24 and Tuesday, Feb. 26 near Oakridge, Oregon.

Passengers were finally taken back to Eugene, Oregon, after UP crew plowed the rails.

Also affected was Amtrak’s Cascades Service between Portland and Eugene, but it resumed normal operation last Thursday.
