Judge Rejects Bid to Halt Brightline Bond Sale

A judge in Florida has dismissed a lawsuit seeking to stop expansion of service by Brightline/Virgin Trains to Florida.

The suit, filed by Indian River County, had sought to get a federal court to stop the sale of “private activity” bonds

But U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper rejected that effort. It was the 10th time that Brightline has prevailed in court in an effort by some Florida Treasure Coast counties to halt Brightline expansion.

The bonds are being used by Brightline to help finance the Orlando expansion.
