The Transportation Communications Union has reached a tentative contract with Amtrak following three years of negotiations.
The union represents carmen, clerks, on-board service workers and supervisors. TCU said in a news release that the pact would grant “significant” percentage wage increases and protects health care benefits.
Amtrak had reportedly pushed for a one-time lump sum increase in wages where the union sought a percentage increase.
TCU said its member will vote on the package in the coming weeks.
TCU said that it along with coalition members NCFO, IBB, IBEW, TWU, IAM, SMART Mechanical and UNITE HERE, represents 12 crafts, or 57 percent of Amtrak employees.
