Track Work to Affect Operations of Texas Eagle, Heartland Flyer in Texas in September

Amtrak has announced that scheduled track work will result in short-term operating changes for two trains serving Texas.

The Heartland Flyer will not operate south of Gainesville, Texas on Sept. 7 due to track work being performed by BNSF.

Train No. 821, which normally operates from Oklahoma City to Fort Worth, will terminate at Gainesville. Passengers will be taken by bus to Fort Worth, Texas.

Train No. 822, which normally originates in Fort Worth, will operate from Gainesville to Oklahoma City. Passengers boarding in Fort Worth will transported by bus to Gainesville.

Bicycle service will not be offered between Gainesville and Fort Worth, but will be available at all stations between Gainesville and Oklahoma City.

Another operating change has been prompted by track work being performed by Union Pacific in Texas.

The Texas Eagle will operate one hour Later from Taylor to San Antonio, Texas, between Sept. 8 and Sept. 30. Under the temporary schedule:

  • Train 21/421 will operate as scheduled to Taylor arriving at 5:36 p.m.
  • Train 21/421 will depart Taylor one hour later at 6:36 p.m and operate one hour later at all stops through its arrival San Antonio.
  • Train 21/421 will operate from San Antonio to Los Angeles on its normal schedule.
